The Japan clip and the two-month delay

The latest material in the long-running speculation around BLACKPINK's Lisa is a fan video said to have been filmed in Japan on 13 August. According to Koreaboo, the fan who recorded it held the footage back for more than two months out of respect for Lisa's privacy and published it only after the singer shared her own photographs from the trip on 17 October.

Many who have seen the clip say it also shows Thai actor Blue Pongtiwat Tangwancharoen, though the identity of the second person has not been verified and the recording is a fan capture rather than an official release. If the sighting is accurate, Koreaboo notes it would be one of the earliest depictions of the pair together since rumours began circulating in the summer. That conditional matters: the clip's value to the story rests entirely on an identification that no one involved has confirmed.

How the sightings built up from July onwards

Koreaboo reports that the speculation first went viral in late July, not long after Lisa's reported break-up with Frédéric Arnault. From that point, claimed sightings arrived in a sequence that fans have treated as cumulative rather than separate.

In September, the pair were allegedly seen at a toy store in London. Later the same month, fans claimed they were together in the United States, backstage at the 2026 VMAs in Los Angeles. On 16 October, viral photographs appeared to show Lisa and her family dining with Blue at a restaurant in the Wacharaphon area of Thailand.

The August Japan footage, once published, slotted in earlier than most of these claims, which is part of why it drew attention: it pushed the timeline back towards the period when the rumours were still new.

Each item on that list is a fan account. None has been authenticated by the individuals concerned, and the source reporting does not establish that the same person appears in every instance.

Why the Thailand dinner claim stands apart

Of the reported sightings, the restaurant photographs carry a different weight from the others because of who is said to be present. A public venue in London or a crowded awards show backstage can produce coincidental proximity. A family meal, if the photographs are genuine, would place Blue in a far more personal setting and in Lisa's home country.

That is precisely the kind of detail that turns scattered fan material into something readers treat as a narrative. It is also the kind of detail that is hardest to verify from outside, since a restaurant photograph shows people at a table and nothing about the relationship between them. Koreaboo does not report any confirmation of the dinner beyond the circulation of the images themselves, and the source does not state who took them.

The ethics of holding footage back

The decision by the Filipino fan to wait before publishing is the most quietly revealing part of the report. The stated reason was respect for Lisa's privacy: the reasoning being that releasing the clip before Lisa had posted her own photographs would have pre-empted her control over when the trip became public.

That instinct sits in contrast with how the rest of the material travelled. Clips and photographs from London, Los Angeles and Thailand circulated quickly, and each one added a data point to a public timeline of where Lisa was and who she was reportedly with. Fans are not a single actor with a single standard, and the story shows both impulses at once: a stated wish not to intrude, and a steady accumulation of material that intrudes anyway.

The delay did not prevent publication; it only postponed it until the artist had already shared her own images, which arguably made the clip easier to frame as corroboration.

The confirmation gap and the language around it

Neither Lisa, Blue nor their respective agencies have issued an official statement about the relationship, Koreaboo reports. That is the central fact against which everything else should be read, and it is worth stating once rather than treating each new clip as if it closed the question.

Headlines describing sightings as "solidifying" rumours capture how the online conversation feels, but the underlying evidence remains a set of fan recordings and photographs with no on-record confirmation. The vocabulary of certainty has run ahead of what has actually been established. For readers arriving at the story now, the most useful distinction is between material that exists and material that has been authenticated: there is plenty of the first and none of the second in the public domain.

K-Beats has not independently verified the footage or the identities of the people in it.

A fandom split over privacy and motives

Koreaboo describes the reaction as hugely divided. One group has argued that Lisa's personal life is her own and that fans should stop treating unverified clips as evidence in an argument. The other has directed criticism at Blue, accusing him of benefiting from his association with a globally famous artist.

The second response deserves scrutiny. Claims that a less prominent figure is trading on a partner's fame are common in K-pop fandoms and are almost always made without evidence about anyone's intentions. In this case, the accusation is a fan inference rather than a reported fact, and it lands on the person with the smaller platform. Whatever the truth of the sightings, that characterisation says more about how fandoms rank the people around a star than it does about either individual.

Why awards shows and travel produce so much overlap

The VMA claim illustrates how these stories grow. Major awards ceremonies generate thousands of photographs and videos from official and unofficial sources, plus a great deal of backstage movement that is only partly documented. A person appearing in the same vicinity as an artist is unremarkable in that environment, but within an existing rumour it becomes corroboration.

Travel works the same way. Lisa's schedule takes her across Asia, Europe and the United States, and Thailand is her home country, which makes a restaurant sighting there plausible in a way that a sighting in an unrelated city would not be. Reading the pattern as a whole, much of it may reflect how fans search for and select material rather than a documented chronology.

That is an interpretation, not a finding, but it is the reason the individual sightings should be weighed separately rather than merged into a single sequence.

What the story actually establishes

The verified core is modest. A fan published a video in October said to have been filmed in Japan in August, and it joined a series of claimed sightings across several countries that have circulated since the summer. No statement has been made by the people involved or their representatives, and no piece of material has been authenticated.

The more instructive story is about how a fandom handles uncertainty. Footage withheld out of respect and then published anyway; sightings collected into a timeline; a debate about privacy running alongside a debate about who is using whom. All of it happens in public and involves real people who have not chosen to make their private lives a news event.

Whether the speculation turns out to be accurate is finally less revealing than how much weight the audience assigned to it before anyone said a word.
